A Visitor On Europe’s Roads

A House Concert

We had a pleasant drive from Fareham to Honiton in Devon for a house concert, the only one on this tour. As you can see from the photographs, a house concert is a very intimate affair. Totally acoustic. You don’t need a large room as here there were just 15 people although Ray has played other house concerts with much larger audiences.

A small house concert is likely to have a mixture of the usual cosy seating pushed to the side with extra chairs filling in the middle.

The main idea behind a house concert is for the host to invite their friends and neighbours for an evening of music. The host may provide food and drink or guests may bring some to share. Sometimes guests give donations to the artist; other times the host may treat their friends. Some hosts, who do not have a room of their own that is large enough for the friends they want to invite, will book a room in a local pub to use for the gig.

If you’d like a house concert from Ray when he’s back in the UK in November 2025, please email tp.ents@gmail.com. For house concerts in Europe, please email ray@raycooper.org. For further information, see www.raycooper.org/house-concerts
