A Visitor On Europe’s Roads

Elmshorner Musiknacht

Tonight, Ray played the opening concert for the music night in Elmshorn. For one evening, starting at 18.00 and going on until 22.30, music is found in twenty venues throughout the centre of the city. Following the opening concert, music starts in the other venues at 19.30 where one artist or band will perform two or three sets during the evening. This allows people to wander around and see a number of acts.

The opening concert was in the restored St Nicolai-Kirche:

The main part of the church.

The church was badly damaged in an air raid in 1943 and was then neglected for many years before restoration began in 1971 and still continues today although the majority of the church is now complete.

The church has a capacity of 500 and for Ray’s show it was full with people standing at the back. With only time for a fifty minute set, Ray selected songs from all five of his albums, playing guitar, cello, piano and mandolin.
