It was a long drive down from Derby to Netley which is on the south coast near Southampton but were able to stop for a break near Oxford. It was lovely to arrive at St Edwards Church, to catch a glimpse of the sea and to be welcomed by John and Sonja who run the Netley Chapel Sessions.


John and Sonja have hosted music in Netley for some 15 years. They have a strong set of volunteers to help them. They provide refreshments in the adjacent church hall.
A particular treat here is the church organ. It was built in 1887 by the firm J W Walker, then based in London. The company continue their work, now based in Devizes, and, according to their website, are Pipe Organ Builders and Tuners By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II.
